Deanna joined the Frederic Thomas USA team in 2014 as a concept developer, specializing in sticker books and other types of activity books. A seasoned children's book writer, Deanna wrote her first book after college when she received the prestigious Watson Fellowship, which allowed her to travel around the world to collect recipes for The Kids' Multicultural Cookbook. She began her publishing career as an editor at Scholastic. Later, at Disney Publishing, she worked with FamilyFun Magazine and also launched FamilyFun Books, which included dozens of kids-activity books, party books and cookbooks for families.
Deanna lives with her family in western Massachusetts and is currently writing books full-time. She has two new children's books that will hit the market in 2015: Cooking Class and Teddy Bear Doctor (both from Storey Publishing, a division of Workman). She has also written geography activity books for Highlights and is the content director at Kidstir.com, a subscription service offering monthly food kits for kids.
Deanna's favorite books from childhood include a children's cookbook by Better Homes and Gardens and Bread and Jam for Frances. She also loved the Madeline books and non-fiction How and Why books about birds and trees.
