In many cases, whether in business or one's personal life, success comes from creating value. That's a guiding principle for how Fred lives his life and directs his company, Frederic Thomas USA, Inc.
Fred's career in publishing began in 1974 when he joined the former Western Publishing Company. Since then, Fred has spent most of his time in the custom-publishing field, rising from a successful sales career to being director of custom publishing for Golden Books. Fred started his own company, Frederic Thomas USA, in 1998.
During his career Fred has successfully produced over 100 individual book promotions totaling over 500 million copies. These include promotional programs for many retail, consumers goods and QSR companies such as Chick-fil-A, Wendy’s, McDonalds, General Mills, Kraft Foods Kmart and Toys ‘R’ Us. Notably, a Little Golden Book free mail-in program for KIX cereal generated in excess of 10% redemptions, the highest ever in General Mills history. A mini-Pictionary near-pack premium won Promo Marketing Magazine’s promotion of the year for Kraft Foods. Frederic Thomas USA has initiated several successful retail promotions at CVS, Hannaford and Giant Eagle.
In the last several years Fred has launched a new publishing venture called Frederic Thomas Children’s Books. Exciting new products are Seek & Find with Freddy and Ellie®, Sweet Letters for Kids™ and Storybook Greetings®. All of these are sold through www.FredericThomasChildrensBooks.com our new website.
Fred graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in business and finance. A Wisconsin native, he now lives in Florida. He maintains close ties with family in Wisconsin, including four special grandsons, and spends time at the family farm just north of Madison. Fred remains a staunch fan of the Badgers, the Packers and the Brewers.
Currently, one of Fred's most valuable tools is a soft-cover book titled Remarkable. Published in 2013 by Dr. Randy Ross and David Salyers, this book deals with creating value both in the business world and in one's life. Remarkable now serves as a valuable resource for communicating this concept throughout the Frederic Thomas USA organization.
Fred's favorite book growing up was The Little Engine That Could. As a father, he enjoyed telling his children Mark Tidd (Harper & Brothers 1913) stories, which were read to him by his father. The family tradition continues as Fred shares those same stories with his grandsons.
