Lisl has worked on a freelance basis, writing, editing and consulting on a variety of projects for Frederic Thomas USA since 2003. She likes research that involves brainstorming, and enjoys learning about a broad spectrum of topics while exploring possibilities for future projects.
A member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, Lisl earned a Bachelor of Science degree in art from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and graduated with Distinctive Scholastic Achievement. She lives on a cranberry marsh in Wisconsin with her husband and two young sons. Lisl is the author of a forthcoming picture book, Time For Cranberries, which will be released from Roaring Brook Press/Macmillan in the fall of 2015. In addition to writing, Lisl enjoys reading, photography, watercolor painting, traveling and cooking.
Some most-loved books from Lisl's childhood include the George and Martha books (and everything else by James Marshall), Caps For Sale, Skinnybones, From The Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, Number the Stars, Matilda and The Dark is Rising. Now that she has her own children to read to, and many friends who are children's book authors, her list of favorites is growing all the time!
